Mark Reuss, the top product development executive at General Motors and avid motorsports fan, will pace drivers behind the wheel of a Corvette Z06 this weekend for the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans.
The two races take place Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31 – only about 2.5 miles from Chevrolet’s Detroit headquarters – as the next events in the Verizon IndyCar series.
The 2015 Callaway Corvette Z06 will debut at the National Corvette Museum C7 Bash in Bowling Green, Kentucky, April 23 through April 25. Here’s a sneak peek at the new package.
Based on Chevrolet’s track-proven Z06, Callaway engineers’ no-compromise approach takes this Corvette to an astounding power level. While advertised Callaway horsepower and torque are pending final validation, the Callaway package adds Callaway’s new GenThree supercharger system with 32% more displacement than the stock Z06 supercharger, improved manifold design and unique triple-element intercooling system.
To balance performance and efficiency, the Z06 leverages the same trio of advanced technologies introduced on the Corvette Stingray – direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing – and leverages them with a new, more efficient supercharger. Combined with the fuel-efficient transmissions, aerodynamic design and lightweight construction, they help make the new Z06 surprisingly frugal.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been rated at 650 horsepower, which means that it is the most powerful production car that General Motors have ever produced. It is powered by the Supercharged LT4 V-8 engine that has been SAE-certified at 650 horsepower (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque (881 Nm) at 3,600 rpm. In fact, the new Z06 engine delivers 40 percent more peak torque (180 lb-ft / 244 Nm) than the previous-generation’s 7.0L LS7; as well as 7.5 percent more than the supercharged 2013 Corvette ZR1′s 604 lb-ft (819 Nm).
At 3,200 rpm, the new LT4 surpasses the LS7 by 208 lb-ft of torque (252 Nm). On the horsepower side of the graph, the LT4′s 650-hp rating is 29 percent greater than the LS7′s 505 horsepower (376 kW), and 12 horses more than the ZR1′s LS9 engine.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible was just introduced. Like its coupe sibling it delivers 625 horsepower (466 kW) and 861 Nm (635 lb-ft) of torque, making it the most powerful convertible ever produced by Chevrolet. The car is built on an aluminum structure, which is 20 percent stiffer than the previous. Its curb weight is nearly identical to the Z06 coupe. Both cars share the same chassis tuning, powertrain output, driver technologies and equipment options, including the Z07 Performance Package. The latter adds Brembo carbon-ceramic matrix brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and adjustable front- and rear-aerodynamic components.
Corvette Z06 Convertible features an electronic top that can be lowered remotely via key fob. The top can also open or close on the go, at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h). The thick fabric top is offered in four colors along with sound-absorbing padding and a glass rear window. Behind the seat backs there are dual accent panels in either Carbon Flash-painted or with exposed carbon fiber.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is finally and officially here. The car was just revealed at the North American International Auto Show with its full specifications. This is the most track-capable Corvette in the brand’s history which is capable of producing 625 horsepower from a new supercharged engine and is equipped with and new, high-performance eight-speed automatic transmission.
Precisely, the new supercharged 6.2L engine is expected to deliver at least 625 horsepower (466 kW), and can be matched with either a seven-speed manual or a high-performance eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters for manual control. The aluminum frame carries over from the Corvette Stingray and will be used essentially unchanged for the Corvette Racing C7.R.
The interest of how the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will look like is undoubtedly very high and we are pleased to announce that the first images of the car have leaked. After the unofficial release of the horsepower the car will produce, Chevrolet obviously didn’t manage to keep the total secret of car’s visual appearance before its debut at the North American Auto Show in Detroit.
The rumors state that the Corvette Z06 will be capable of producing 620 horsepower (455 kW) and 650 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. This makes almost 200 hp added over the 450 hp and 200 lb-ft over the 450 lb-ft of torque of the base model.
The pictures that were going around the Internet show not only the external appearance of the car – front and back, but also the interior that it will sport.
North American International Auto Show will happen in a week and we are to see there some exciting newcomers! One of them is the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. It was announced by Chevrolet in December that the car is going to be revealed in Detroit.
As a matter of fact, the Z06 is expected to be the most track-capable Corvette ever. Since these promises were made a month ago, the brand obviously didn’t have the chance to keep the secret of the Corvette’s performance figures intact. Yes, unfortunately (for Chevrolet) the output figures of the Z06 have already leaked.
