GM to Release Compact Pickups

At the North American Auto Show in Detroit GM not only revealed the next generation of their full size pickups, but they also announced that they are planning to launch two midsize pickup trucks as early as late next year for each of its truck brands.

The Chevy version of the midsize pickup will be marketed towards the “lifestyle” pickup truck buyer. The GMC midsize pickup will be aimed at fleet buyers and small business owners. The two GM midsize trucks will be timed to coincide with Ford’s launch of its redesigned full-size F-150.  For an idea of size, GM’s midsize pickups are expected to be larger than a Toyota Tacoma, which is classified as a compact pickup.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro 427 Yenko

1969 Chevrolet Camaro 427 Yenko - Muscle Cars BlogThe Yenko Super Camaro was a modified Chevrolet Camaro prepared by Yenko Chevrolet, Canonsburg, PA., under the command of Don Yenko from 1967 through 1969 and we, present it to you. Don, a renowned racer and the owner of Yenko Chevrolet, decided the new for ’67 Camaro needed a bit more oomph. This was because a General Motors corporate edict prevented it from carrying an engine larger than 400 CID V8; this put the Camaro at a serious disadvantage to the Ford Mustang, Plymouth Barracuda and the Dodge Dart since they had no such a limit.

Don Yenko, however, knew there was a market for an ultra-powerful Camaro and found ways around the GM limit. To accomplish this task he transplanted the L-72 427 big block engine form the Corvette into the Camaro, thus the Yenko SC or Super Camaro was born! Seeing how successful Don’s creation was, other dealers across the Country also did similar swaps, but the Yenko is widely considered the most collectible of the bunch. Click on Read more!

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Pro Touring Convertible 502

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS - Pro Touring Convertible 502 - Muscle Cars BlogHow do you make a first generation Camaro even better? Easy. Add power and make it handle like a slot car. The next candidate for our pro-touring Camaro Hall of Fame is this wild 1969 Camaro convertible. Born with a coat of Fathom Green and a lot less engine, the restoration process was especially good to this car. It now features big-block power, a trick suspension and an eye-popping color that perfectly complements its asphalt-eating demeanor. If you liked the last few pro-touring first-gens but prefer yours topless, take a closer look at this at this ground-pounding 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

While most F-body enthusiasts have a particular year they favor, you would be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t like the 1969 design. While the basic side profile remained the same from 1968, all sheet metal (with the exception of the hood and decklid) was reworked for a lower, wider and generally more aggressive look. When straightening out the body work on this Camaro, perfection was clearly the goal. Every corner is sharp, every line is crisp and panel fitment is far superior to assembly line work. Covering that laser straight body is an attractive shade of yellow that does a great job of accenting the cars line while turning of plenty of heads in the process. Accenting that yellow paint are two matte black stripes that further the aggressive demeanor of this F-body. All paint work is high-quality with absolutely no noticeable flaws from any angle. 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS Lingenfelter LS7 800 HP

2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS Lingenfelter LS7 800 HP - Muscle Cars BlogThe original ZL1 Camaro is one of the most coveted cars ever produced by General Motors. Its fire breathing aluminum 427 is truly the stuff of hot rodding legend. When Chevrolet announced that they would build a modernized version of that famed F-body on their new Zeta platform, enthusiasts across the nation immediately began spec’ing out their hopes for the car. By the time SEMA 2011 rolled around in November, it was clear that most major shops in North America had also spent the year dreaming and creating their own visions of what the hot new Camaro should be. While there was no shortage of F-bodies at SEMA that year, none took performance as seriously as this 2011 Camaro SS.

Built by Source Interlink Media, who you may know better as the parent company of magazines like Super Chevy, Hot Rod, Automobile and Motor Trend, plenty of BIG names were called in to help out. The list includes GM Performance Division, Thomson Automotive and Pedders Suspension just to name a few. After its SEMA debut, the car was taken to Lingenfelter Performance Engineering for a full shake down. The end result is a brand new Camaro packing over 800 fully streetable horsepower. There are few fifth generation Camaros that could touch this car in a quarter mile and absolutely zero with this kind of provenance. If you’ve been eyeing a new Camaro as an investment, they simply don’t get better than this. Click on Read more!

Camaro “Chevy Happy Grad” for Super Bowl ad

Camaro "Chevy Happy Grad" for Super Bowl ad - Muscle Cars BlogNew York independent filmmaker created winning Camaro ad
Advertisement to air during Super Bowl XLVI

DETROIT – “Chevy Happy Grad,” an ad submitted by 26-year old Long Island resident Zach Borst, will be aired during the telecast of Super Bowl XLVI, beating out submissions by independent filmmakers from around the world as part of Chevrolet’s Route 66 Super Bowl ad contest.

The ads had more than 32 million total online views between December 22 and January 14.

“We asked filmmakers to depict life’s journey and how Chevrolet is there along the way,” said General Motors Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick. “When I saw Zach’s spot, I had to laugh, because the situation is something many families can related to – expectation and reality. ‘Happy Grad’ clearly shows the passion that Chevrolet elicits.”

Borst’s audience on Super Bowl Sunday is expected to exceed 110 million television viewers. “Chevy Happy Grad” was filmed on location near his home on Long Island during a weather window that offered Zach, his cast and crew only four hours to complete the project.

“My Dad was a cop and worked real hard to be able to buy his kids their first cars. They were used, but mine meant the world to me,” Borst said. “Then I wondered what it would look like if I got a brand new Camaro? I mean, after all, who wouldn’t want a Camaro as a graduation gift?”

Borst, an aspiring filmmaker, has been producing films since his childhood and founded his own production company, Goat Farm Films, based in New York. Watch it after click on Read more!
