This year’s edition of SEMA will feature the usual slew of over-the-top, modified cars with all sorts of wild mods, ranging from crazy paint finishes and liveries, to engine swaps and mechanical modifications – all appreciated in their own way, and by a distinct crowd.

One of the real expected crowd-pullers is this, the Dodge Charger Juiced concept. It features a plain paint finish, with some plain wheels, and a plain and subtle body kit, and that’s about it. The 2012 Chevy Camaro has become the fastest and the most powerful muscle car the world has ever seen. The 2012 Camaro is expected to be as forceful as it’s possible, with the output rating of more than 570 hp! 580 hp, to be precise. Sounds like it’s more than ready for the road. Along with the fierce horsepower, the Camaro makes 550 lb-ft of torque. It goes far ahead than its closest rival, the Cadillac CTS-V.

The Camaro keeps the balance of performance and technology in the one car, with the newest investments in performance traction management and Magnetic Ride Control (MRC). It enables the Camaro’s track-focused suspension shift from hard to soft, depending on the track. Let alone active exhaust that awakens the neighbors. Originally an open track car, this 1968 Ford Mustang has been returned to road spec whilst retaining a number of race car features. For 58 of its 60 years, the Chevrolet Corvette has been powered by the legendary Chevrolet V-8 engine. Technological advancements have increased output threefold – from 195 hp in 1955 to 638 hp today – as well as reliability, refinement and efficiency.

However, the fundamental architecture of the Chevrolet “Small Block” remains the same today as it was in 1955: a 90-degree V-8, with overhead valves actuated by pushrods, and a 4.4-inch on-center bore spacing.

“The brilliance of the Chevrolet V-8 is its elegant, efficient design,” said Jordan Lee, global chief engineer for Small Block Engines. “The Chevy V-8 has fewer reciprocating parts, and is very efficient and has one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any engine family in the industry. The design is incredibly compact, enabling the Corvette’s signature sleek profile and low hood line.”

Despite a sporty appearance, the early Corvettes’ performance didn’t match their good looks. The car launched in 1953 with the “Blue Flame” inline six-cylinder engine and a two-speed automatic transmission – not exactly the stuff on which to build a sports car legend.
