1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Pro Touring Convertible 502

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS - Pro Touring Convertible 502 - Muscle Cars BlogHow do you make a first generation Camaro even better? Easy. Add power and make it handle like a slot car. The next candidate for our pro-touring Camaro Hall of Fame is this wild 1969 Camaro convertible. Born with a coat of Fathom Green and a lot less engine, the restoration process was especially good to this car. It now features big-block power, a trick suspension and an eye-popping color that perfectly complements its asphalt-eating demeanor. If you liked the last few pro-touring first-gens but prefer yours topless, take a closer look at this at this ground-pounding 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

While most F-body enthusiasts have a particular year they favor, you would be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t like the 1969 design. While the basic side profile remained the same from 1968, all sheet metal (with the exception of the hood and decklid) was reworked for a lower, wider and generally more aggressive look. When straightening out the body work on this Camaro, perfection was clearly the goal. Every corner is sharp, every line is crisp and panel fitment is far superior to assembly line work. Covering that laser straight body is an attractive shade of yellow that does a great job of accenting the cars line while turning of plenty of heads in the process. Accenting that yellow paint are two matte black stripes that further the aggressive demeanor of this F-body. All paint work is high-quality with absolutely no noticeable flaws from any angle. Camaro "Chevy Happy Grad" for Super Bowl ad - Muscle Cars BlogNew York independent filmmaker created winning Camaro ad
Advertisement to air during Super Bowl XLVI

DETROIT – “Chevy Happy Grad,” an ad submitted by 26-year old Long Island resident Zach Borst, will be aired during the telecast of Super Bowl XLVI, beating out submissions by independent filmmakers from around the world as part of Chevrolet’s Route 66 Super Bowl ad contest.

The ads had more than 32 million total online views between December 22 and January 14.

“We asked filmmakers to depict life’s journey and how Chevrolet is there along the way,” said General Motors Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick. “When I saw Zach’s spot, I had to laugh, because the situation is something many families can related to – expectation and reality. ‘Happy Grad’ clearly shows the passion that Chevrolet elicits.”

Borst’s audience on Super Bowl Sunday is expected to exceed 110 million television viewers. “Chevy Happy Grad” was filmed on location near his home on Long Island during a weather window that offered Zach, his cast and crew only four hours to complete the project.

“My Dad was a cop and worked real hard to be able to buy his kids their first cars. They were used, but mine meant the world to me,” Borst said. “Then I wondered what it would look like if I got a brand new Camaro? I mean, after all, who wouldn’t want a Camaro as a graduation gift?”

Borst, an aspiring filmmaker, has been producing films since his childhood and founded his own production company, Goat Farm Films, based in New York. Watch it after click on Read more!

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Short Review - Muscle Cars BlogWe all know the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro is a head-turning muscle car that goes like stink and will certainly get you noticed. But it also comes with significant trade-offs that can make the Camaro hard to live with on a daily basis.

Two engines are available for this timeless gem, in V6 and V8. The buyer is essentially able to pick their poison. Both models have great acceleration for their price. The V6 engine is a 3.6 liter which produces approximately 312 horsepower. Which makes the 2011 chevy camaro a great car of choice both engines have plenty of hp.

This is an upgrade from the previous year’s model, at an 8 horsepower difference. The V8 engine is a 6.2 liter, and produces 400 horsepower. Both versions are available in either manual or automatic transmission. The horsepower of the 2011 chevy camaro increases with the manual transmission to 426.

Turn the key, and confidence transforms into pure adrenaline. Grin-inducing technology like Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing work together to enhance combustion and breathing efficiency throughout the powerband. But the quickest way to nirvana may be through your fingertips. Camaro’s available six-speed automatic transmission comes with steering wheel–mounted TAPshift controls for clutchless manual shifting. Essential for revving anyone’s soul. Read more!

DETROIT – A special edition of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will be showcased in the annual Neiman Marcus “Christmas Book,” the luxury retailer announced today.

Only 100 special edition convertibles will be built, each offering luxury appointments inspired by Neiman Marcus combined with the legendary performance of the Camaro SS. This is the 84th edition of the luxury retailer’s catalog of ultimate holiday gifts. Neiman Marcus debuted the Christmas Book and the special edition Camaro Convertible today at its flagship store in Dallas.

“Neiman Marcus provides a great platform to showcase the new Camaro Convertible,” said Tom Peters, Chevrolet Design director. “And, it enabled us to create a special edition car that combines the powerful design and performance of the new Camaro with an element of exclusivity, craftsmanship and customized luxury.”

The Neiman Marcus Edition is defined by its exclusive Deep Bordeaux exterior color, accented by subtle, “ghosted” rally stripes.

“The tri-coat, metallic paint shifts in response to natural light,” said Peters. “In low light, it appears almost black with a touch of deep violet. In sunlight, a little bit of red and burgundy appear.”

The interior of the Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro Convertible features exclusive leather interior appointments, including amber-colored leather seating surfaces offset by black leather side panels and red stitching. Red accents also appear on the center console, steering wheel and shift knob. The Deep Bordeaux color from the exterior is brought inside the car, appearing on the dash and door panels.

New 2011 Hennessey HPE700 Camaro Gets Convertible Option and 755 Horsepower

SEALY, TEXAS – With the limited production run of Hennessey’s 2010 HPE700 Camaro long since sold-out, the company has announced they will build another 24 units for the 2011 model year. This latest run of HPE700′s will include the addition of the new convertible model (from Chevrolet) and an increase in power from its supercharged 6.2L LS9 V8 – the same engine found in the Corvette ZR1.

The 2011 HPE700 gets its additional power from revised boost levels and a more robust fuel system, delivering 755 bhp and 763 lb-ft of torque. This 30 horsepower increase over 2010 will also help move the convertible’s extra weight, while the large 15 inch brakes from last year remain to bring it back to a stop quickly.

As the Camaro convertible arrives in showrooms in the spring of 2011, the 6-speed manual SS model will become available alongside its hardtop brethren to become the basis for the HPE700 LS9 Camaro transformation. Read more!

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible … for Kids!

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible ... for Kids! - Muscle Cars BlogInnocence is the last word that comes to mind when one thinks about the Chevrolet Camaro. And the same goes for electric propulsion. This is because the Camaro has been a symbol of the American (automotive) dream for decades and the contemporary incarnation of the car is a perfect example of this.

However, it seems that General Motors has found a way of combining the three, while also adding the “convertible” world. No, the upcoming Camaro convertible won’t be an innocent electric machine. Instead, we are talking about a Camaro for your kids.

The vehicle measures 61 inches long (154.9 cm), 23 inches (58.4 cm) wide and 29.5 inches (74.9 cm) in height, tips the scales at 75 lbs/34 kg and has a “payload” of 130 lbs/59 kg (yes, your boy will be able to offer his girlfriend a ride).

The car uses an electric propulsion system, offering a cruising speed of 5 mph (8 km/h). The vehicle’s 12V battery needs between 8 and 10 hours to reach a full charge.

“Officially licensed kid’s battery operated version of the Chevrolet Camaro. Perfect for your child, your grandchild, a nephew or a niece. This ride rocks!” stated the press release. Read more!
