As part of Mopar’s 75th anniversary celebration and the 2012 edition of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, Mopar and the Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team collaborated with comedian Jeff Dunham and his crew from Palmer’s Customs of Camarillo, Calif., to create a custom 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Mopar, SRT, and Dunham revealed the modern-day hot rod, dubbed Project UltraViolet, today at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

Dunham is a lifelong car enthusiast and well-known comedian who premiered his fifth special, “Minding the Monsters” on Comedy Central earlier this month and will launch his new “Disorderly Conduct” tour next month in Canada.

“It’s a major understatement to say that I’ve been looking forward to the SEMA show this year, as we’ve had an awesome time creating this one-of-a-kind Challenger,” said Dunham, who touts the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda “as my favorite muscle car of all time” and recently purchased a 1970 numbers-matching four-speed convertible ‘Cuda as proof. The 2012 Chevy Camaro has become the fastest and the most powerful muscle car the world has ever seen. The 2012 Camaro is expected to be as forceful as it’s possible, with the output rating of more than 570 hp! 580 hp, to be precise. Sounds like it’s more than ready for the road. Along with the fierce horsepower, the Camaro makes 550 lb-ft of torque. It goes far ahead than its closest rival, the Cadillac CTS-V.

The Camaro keeps the balance of performance and technology in the one car, with the newest investments in performance traction management and Magnetic Ride Control (MRC). It enables the Camaro’s track-focused suspension shift from hard to soft, depending on the track. Let alone active exhaust that awakens the neighbors. For 58 of its 60 years, the Chevrolet Corvette has been powered by the legendary Chevrolet V-8 engine. Technological advancements have increased output threefold – from 195 hp in 1955 to 638 hp today – as well as reliability, refinement and efficiency.

However, the fundamental architecture of the Chevrolet “Small Block” remains the same today as it was in 1955: a 90-degree V-8, with overhead valves actuated by pushrods, and a 4.4-inch on-center bore spacing.

“The brilliance of the Chevrolet V-8 is its elegant, efficient design,” said Jordan Lee, global chief engineer for Small Block Engines. “The Chevy V-8 has fewer reciprocating parts, and is very efficient and has one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any engine family in the industry. The design is incredibly compact, enabling the Corvette’s signature sleek profile and low hood line.”

Despite a sporty appearance, the early Corvettes’ performance didn’t match their good looks. The car launched in 1953 with the “Blue Flame” inline six-cylinder engine and a two-speed automatic transmission – not exactly the stuff on which to build a sports car legend. We’ve featured some pretty amazing pro-touring early Camaros lately here at Muscle Cars Blog, but when you start giving cars names, you know they’re getting serious. Built by the artists at GelPro Rod & Muscle, his 1969 Camaro is known as “The Punisher” and given the performance credentials and stunning execution, it’s entirely appropriate (yes, comic book fans, we know The Punisher drove a GTO, not a Camaro, so save your E-mails; it’s just a name). The Corvette ZR1 is one of those pieces of US metal that make many, many, European go-fast rides want to cry and go hide in a shed. Thus, ZR1 owners are extremely proud of their rides and want to offer their car tributes, as a sign of gratitude for all the performance.

This is exactly the case here, with a yellow example of the ZR1, which was gifted with a set of custom shoes. The 640 hp ‘Vette was touched by Advance One Wheels, which fitted it with a set of ADV07TS rims.

The wheels use a black finish for the center and a brushed aluminum finish for the lips, with the contrast between the two acting like an attention magnet. The rims, which come in a 20-inch size, are wrapped in Invo Nitto rubber. Click on read more for more images!
