Dodge’s ultimate modern American muscle coupe, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, receives a big boost in horsepower and torque with the introduction of the legendary 392-cubic inch HEMI V8 powertrain for the street.

And the product story goes beyond the power rumbling under the hood.

Dodge performance loyalists asked for more power off the line, and the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 answers the call with 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s 90 lb.-ft. more torque at 2,900 rpm compared with the previous 6.1-liter V-8 engine.

Mustang 1,000 Lap Challenge

BRISTOL, TN., June 24, 2010 – The 2011 Ford Mustang, which made history when it became the first car ever to deliver more than 30 mpg and 305 horsepower, has set a new record by running 1,457 laps at Bristol Motor Speedway while averaging 48.5 mpg.

The Mustang 1,000 Lap Challenge was designed to demonstrate that a stock production Mustang V-6 could run 1,000 laps and 533 miles on a single of tank of fuel. With the aid of fuel efficient driving techniques by Ford engineers, the Mustang far surpassed its goal of 1,000 laps.

To see a Mustang post average fuel economy of 48.5 mpg while running at Bristol is impressive,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “The new V-6 engine along with the advanced six-speed transmission in the car is a key element in delivering both fuel economy and performance for Mustang.”

Transformers Corvette Stingray Concept

Transformers Corvette Stingray Concept - Muscle Cars BlogIf you take a closer look at this Speedster and then compare it to the original 50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray Concept that was shown at the Chicago Auto Show in 2009 as well as in the movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, you will see some major differences: A different hood with dual openings in the front, No LED vertical headlights – a more conventional lighting system appears tucked into the front recesses, different wheels and a different front grille. Also, as the original Stingray Concept featured Lambo-style doors, either this car’s door is slightly ajar or the gaps on these new door panels gaps are just horrendous. Our guess is that someone had finally put together a rebody kit based on the Stingray Concept but took it a step further by chopping the windshield and roof and making into a Speedster version. Last year we came across an eBay auction for a Stingray Concept kit but at the time it was nothing more than vaporware. But, because this car was seen in Beverly Hills and with Transformers 3 in production for a 2011 release, maybe Sideswipe decided to transform into something more appropriate for the California sunshine.
