Everything You Need to Know About Kia Optima

Hey, how about those Kias! Yes, exactly. One of the bestselling Kias in the United States is the Optima and it is built in Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant. It’s beautifully designed and has a futuristic aerodynamic exterior for smooth and quiet rides. The interior is luxurious all the way and the attention to detail is not only noticeable but also comforting to know that the South Korean engineers put so much care and thought into their work.

The Optima’s handling is remarkably effortless and the braking system is more than responsive as is the steering. When you sit behind the wheel of the 2017 Kia Optima you are in for a surprise. This mid-size sedan feels like it is a much larger automobile and has everything you could want or need. Function is an important concept to the Optima designers and all controls and buttons are in logical easy to reach and operate locations. The large infotainment touchscreen interface is 8-inches, which makes this unit easy to read and quick to command. It comes with a navigation system along with a smartphone interface menu. There’s plenty of room in the Optima. Ample legroom and headroom along with generous shoulder room make this well-appointed car a keeper. There’s also a spacious trunk to carry plenty of cargo.

Kia was founded in South Korea in 1944, so it is a relative newcomer to the automotive industry. It is also one of the big success stories in the car business because it is so young and yet it has penetrated all the major markets on the planet. Kia is South Korea’s second largest carmaker, next to Hyundai, which owns just over a third of the shares in Kia. Kia, on the other hand, owns more than $8 billion worth of stock in Hyundai subsidiaries.

Kia, roughly translated means “To come out of the East.” The company started out by making bicycle parts and then moved up to manufacturing motorcycles, which eventually led to making trucks in 1962 and then cars in 1974.  They’ve come along way since their bike part days and we’re glad they did. The Optima, among other great Kia models can be seen and test driven at Monroeville Kia.
