The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded 2018 Kia Rio sedan with the highest rating possible – Top Safety Plus. When equipped with the optional Autonomous Emergency Braking and LED headlights, the machine has managed to achieve “Superior” rates and “Good” rates for the LED headlight tests. This award is the 10th for the brand – as it seems Kia team has managed to maintain good positions lately in terms of utility and safety features.

In order to qualify for TSP+, a vehicle should achieve at least “Good” rates in six crashworthiness tests: driver-side small overlap, front moderated overlap, side impact, roof strength and head restraint. Furthermore, “Good” and “Acceptable” rates should be present for the passenger side small overlap front tests and “Advanced” or “Superior” rate for front crash prevention.

The vehicle itself, 2018 Kia Rio comes with revised and super sexy exterior design, advanced technology features and fun-to-drive character. Available in LX, S and EX trim levels, new Kia machine is powered by a Gamma 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder power unit that can be paired to either a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox. Overall output is measured at 130hp and 119lb-ft of torque.
