Chevrolet Camaro wrapped in chrome vinyl

Chevrolet Camaro wrapped in chrome vinyl - Muscle Cars BlogWe’ve seen our fair share of chromed cars – everything from an Audi R8 V10 to a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster – but here’s something American – a real muscle car.

Talk about a flashy Camaro, literally! Vinyl wraps have been all the rage in the aftermarket, allowing car owners to change up their car’s color completely and unlimited times, but also 100% reversible. The Czech guys from Tintek.cz – specialist in wrapping sports cars – are back with a new chrome vinyl. They outfitted the vinyl to a Chevrolet Camaro SS and an Audi TT.

Tintek says the Camaro is the first chrome application of this kind in the Czech Republic, as the effect is not obtained by painting the car but by applying a special 3-D foil over the original paintwork. They also offer the chrome effect in gold, black, green, blue, orange, red and violet. This is what I call an original tuning project! Check out the video on Read more!

Right-Hand Drive Camaro in Australia

Right-Hand Drive Camaro in Australia - Muscle Cars BlogFor all of you, who live in Australia – GM’s decision a few days ago will not affect Performax’s plans to import, modify and sell Camaros.

According to Performax, about 250 hours of work per Camaro are needed for the left-hand drive to right-hand conversion. All these modifications inolve changes to steering, emissions equipment, lighting, air-conditioning and ventilation and body – all parts used by Performax are ISO-accredited.

“Performax International was first in Australia with the Camaro and we have achieved factory-standard engineering and finish quality in producing right-hand drive versions. Whatever any other importer decides to do or not do, Performax is proud to have the first and best RHD Camaros and we expect plenty will be finding their way to owners around Australia”, said Performax International General Manager Glenn Soper.

Camaro Will Remain In Left-hand Drive

Camaro Will Remain In Left-hand Drive - Muscle Cars BlogCountries such as Japan, UK and Australia won’t get the Camaro -  at least, not now. It seems that the plans for a right-hand drive version of the Camaro have been put on hold due to a change of priorities within GM. This is what Bob Lutz, GM’s vice chairman, said in an interview with journalists at the
2010 Geneva Auto Show. Maybe there are intentions to accent on hybrids and electric vehicles.

According to Motor Trend, Lutz said “It’s been pushed back, perhaps indefinitely. No matter which car company you work for, there’s never enough engineering money, talent and capital to do everything you want to do,” said Lutz. “So when we looked at the hybrids that we have to do, and the plug-ins that we have to do, we just had to priority rank it and I couldn’t argue with the priorities.”

“Unfortunately all of the markets came in with relatively low volume estimates. The UK was low, and…frankly I think Australia could have stepped up to the plate with some more. But when we finally looked at it there weren’t enough units to justify after all what is a fairly large investment,” he said.
