The Camaro Home Coming was held in one of the parking lots of the Oshawa Assembly plant. It included a rare plant tour on Friday June 10, 2011! I hope that GM keeps opening up the plants and the workers and management to the fans and driving public. Watch the video on Read more!

DETROIT – On May 5, 1961, Alan B. Shepard became the first American to travel into outer space. When he returned to terra firma, Shepard got behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Corvette – and the legends of America’s favorite sports car and spacemen have been intertwined ever since.
On May 7, 2011, approximately 30 of America’s surviving astronauts are expected to gather at Cocoa Beach, Fla., where they will participate in a parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of Shepard’s historic sub-orbital flight. Fittingly, they will be driven in Corvettes representing all six design generations built since the famed sports car’s 1953 debut.
“Each astronaut will ride in a Corvette from the generation current at the time of their mission,” parade coordinator John T. R. Dillon III said.

Wed, May 4 2011
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – General Motors said Wednesday it will invest $131 million in the Bowling Green Assembly plant to support production of the next generation Chevrolet Corvette, adding about 250 jobs.
“This is a significant day for anyone who believes that America should build world-class, high-performance products,” said Mark Reuss, GM North America president. “Corvette has no domestic peer for performance and pedigree and stands alongside the world’s best supercars with almost 60 years of continuous heritage.
“This investment in Kentucky is among $3.4 billion made in the United States since mid-2009 to keep or create more than 9,000 jobs for American workers,” Reuss said. Read more!
Camaro Officially Named 科迈罗 (Ke Mai Luo) in China
Earlier today, SGM announced that Chevrolet will introduce the legendary Camaro sports car at Auto Shanghai 2011 in April. The Camaro will have a sonorous Chinese name – 科迈罗 (Ke Mai Luo). The Ke Mai Luo with a 3.6-liter engine will be priced around RMB 500,000.
In recent years, China’s luxury sports car market has been flourishing, highlighted by the midsize luxury segment (priced at RMB 400,000–800,000), which grew 141% in 2010. At present, this segment is dominated by cars with European design. The Camaro, with its “masculine” styling, will be a welcome addition.
Additional details about the Camaro will be announced at the Shanghai auto show.

Chevrolet will air five 30-second commercials during Super Bowl XLV Sunday on FOX, representing only part of a coordinated TV presence that continues into a special post-game episode of “Glee,” the FOX hit musical comedy. The Camaro, Cruze Eco, Silverado HD and Volt will be featured in a combination of in-game and post-game ads, plus Chevy is presenting a Camaro Convertible to the Most Valuable Player from Super Bowl XLV between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. The new 2012 Camaro might get a few extra horses under the bonnet if what Camaro5 reports is true. The new horsepower will find its way into the V6 powerplant for the sports coupe version. The new engine, badged “LFX”, looks like a significant improvement over the already powerful LLT V6 found in LS and LT Camaros.
The mill is described as “LFX 3.6L SIDI, DOHC, VVT, E85 MAX, Alum GM”, so it should still displace only 3.6-liters, just like the current V6 Camaro. It’s not yet clear if this is the standard model or some kind of high-performance race car for the road, but we like the figures either way. It even comes packed with advanced features, like Spark-Ignition Direct-Injection, Dual Overhead Cams, Variable Valve Timing, and E85 capability. Read more!
Chevrolet Corvette is undoubtedly one of the big names of the auto industry and whenever its name is brought into discussions, there’s at least one fan around to start a debate on the model’s impressive history. And we must all admit that Corvette is indeed a great model with a fascinating history but what about its future?
General Motors hasn’t talked too much about the future of the Chevrolet Corvette range, letting car enthusiasts around the world feast their eyes with the current incarnations of the model. But a Transportation Design student, on his name James Robbins, created what could be a future Corvette.
In other words, he envisioned the future design of the Corvette, keeping the same language and proportions of the current models. The result is just impressive and the sporty and sleek Corvette would really become a breathtaking car if GM’s designers decide to go this way. Read more!
