If you subscribed to Super Chevy or spent any time at major U.S. car shows around the mid-2000′s, you undoubtedly recognize the Goodmark Camaro. In the event you were living on a remote island during that time, it’s probably easiest to describe this car as one of the most famous second generation Camaros ever assembled. Built for the 2005 Super Chevy Road Tour as a partnership between Super Chevy magazine and Goodmark, every stage of this project was extensively documented in detailed series of magazine write ups. The original ZL1 Camaro is one of the most coveted cars ever produced by General Motors. Its fire breathing aluminum 427 is truly the stuff of hot rodding legend. When Chevrolet announced that they would build a modernized version of that famed F-body on their new Zeta platform, enthusiasts across the nation immediately began spec’ing out their hopes for the car. By the time SEMA 2011 rolled around in November, it was clear that most major shops in North America had also spent the year dreaming and creating their own visions of what the hot new Camaro should be. While there was no shortage of F-bodies at SEMA that year, none took performance as seriously as this 2011 Camaro SS.
Chevrolet will build 69 COPO Camaros for 2012, the brand’s first purpose-built Camaro drag-racing specialty car designed to compete with the quickest in NHRA’s Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes. National records for quarter-mile times in these contests are in the nine-second range.
General Motors released photos of the forthcoming Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, a supercharged version of the luxury coupe introduced a few weeks ago at the Los Angeles auto show.
