1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS5 Convertible - Muscle Cars BlogWant some more super cool muscle cars? Check out this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS5 Convertible! The set price is $119,900.00 and it is available at RK Motors Charlotte:

If you watched the recent Scottsdale auctions, you already know that duplicating big-name muscle cars is big business. Last year, we featured a stunning black cherry 1970 Chevelle LS5 convertible that was about the most beautifully executed clone we’d ever seen, and it sold for $75K substantial sum to a very happy enthusiast. Just two months ago, we sold a Fathom Blue LS5 Convertible tribute for $80,000.00 and we had five guys asking us when we would be getting another, while lamenting being too slow to pull the trigger.

But in reality, nothing compares to the real deal, especially when you’re talking about high-end investment-grade cars like this 1970 Chevelle SS convertible. Yes, it is a real SS, a real LS5 car, and has been authenticated by none other than Jerry MacNeish of Camaro High Performance. It packs a date-code correct engine and transmission, and has been highly detailed for show. Only 4574 LS5s were built in 1970, and of those, only a fraction were convertibles, making this a very rare piece indeed. See more, click on read more and take a look at the gallery!

1969 Camaro Named Best Chevy of All Time - Muscle Cars BlogNearly 125,000 Chevrolet fans have spoken, naming the 1969 Camaro the “Best Chevy of All Time.”

As part of Chevrolet’s Centennial celebration, fans were asked to vote for their favorite vehicle from Chevrolet’s 100-year history. During the four-round, elimination bracket, the 1969 Camaro garnered 25,058 of the 124,368 votes cast, edging out the 1970 Chevelle SS in the final round.

Tom Peters, Chevrolet Design director, believes the ’69 Camaro is not only one of the best vehicles in Chevrolet’s history but one of the best vehicles ever. He is a little biased, however, having owned the same 1969 Camaro for nearly 20 years.

“I can vividly remember seeing one for the first time as a kid,” Peters said. “The intent of the Camaro was instantly understood, even to a 14-year old like me, because it possessed a very powerful personality and an elegant, simple design. The Camaro was so cool because it offered this great style, high performance, and yet was attainable for someone just getting out of school. Read more!

Armed Forces Foundation Chevelle for charity - Muscle Cars BlogProject American Heroes Chevelle is the third in a series of specially enhanced muscle cars built by Route 66 Motorsports and documented by Super Chevy Magazine with proceeds of the auction going to the Armed Forces Foundation. The very best parts supplied from over 30 participating sponsors are combined into this high performance vehicle. Route 66 Motorsports provided all of the build talent and support to make this car a reality.

Beginning with a donated 1970 Chevelle, the latest design components from Detroit Speed & Engineering were used for both front and rear suspensions and were combined with Baer Brakes’ new “6P” brake system. Power from the GM Performance Parts LSA intercooled and supercharged engine with computer management power is delivered through a TCI Automotive 6x 6-speed 4L80E transmission to an Inland Empire driveshaft that connects to the Strange Engineering rear end. Additional parts needed to complete this combination were Aeromotive fuel components, a K&N air filtration system, Autorad radiator system, Lucas Oil Products synthetic lubricants, Edelbrock LS package of headers, exhaust and motor mounts. Rounding out the driveline components are Toyo Tires USA high performance tires wrapped around specially designed one-off Boze Alloy custom 6-spoke wheels that have the insignia of each branch of the military etched in place.

American Heroes 1970 Chevelle SS Up for Auction - Muscle Cars BlogBorn from a collaboration between Super Chevy Magazine, Route 66 Motorsports and the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF), the third Project American Heroes car is about to be sold at an auction that will benefit
American veterans.

The car in question is, in fact, based on a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, which will go under the hammer on June 26 at a Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction.

The Project American Heroes Chevelle is powered by a GM Performance 550 hp supercharged LSA engine and TCI 6-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with custom Boze billet aluminum wheels and high performance suspension system from Detroit Speed Engineering.

However, the vehicle also includes a selection of components that have been donated by National Parts Depot, Edelbrock, Fesler Billet, Baer Brakes, Sony, Strange Engineering, Legendary Auto Interiors, Specialty Power Windows, Thermo Tec, PPG Paints, K&N Engineering, Painless Performance, AutoRad Radiators, Inland Empire Driveline, Soffseal, and Old Air Products.

“I can’t think of a more fantastic way to raise awareness of our mission and highlight the talents of everyone involved in this project,” Patricia Driscoll, President of the Armed Forces Foundation, said in a release. “The dedication of all our partners really shines through in the finished product, and we are confident that this year’s auction will be just as successful as the last.”

As said, this is the third year that a Project American Heroes is used to raise funds for the Armed Forces Foundation. According to the AFF, the first car, which was a 1957 Chevy, raised $130,000. The second one managed to achieve more than twice that amount, raising no less than $500,000.
