Classic muscle cars – true pearls of 60s and 70s American car industry – are still of great interest for real car buffs. A living incarnation of wild power, designed and destined to take your breath away the moment you see it or drive it for the first time. Now we are to present you the results of a recent survey conducted in an attempt to understand what muscle cars people consider the best. The following paragraphs give a clear idea of what the results are in the order of increasing.

The #10 of our list is 1970 Buick GSX built on the base of Buick GS 455 and said to have 360 horsepower, but as it often happened the numbers were a bit underrated. The coupe was available in two colors only: yellow and white, racing stripes being an essential part of its appearance.

The 9th place fully belongs to 1969 Dodge Charger – quite a TV star of 1980s, widely nicknamed as General Lee. Its engines were able to churn out 375 to 425 horses without effort, though the weight of each engine was pretty impressive, too: almost half a ton.

#8 is 1968 Pontiac Firebird Coupe, whose first generation virtually had no competitors on the American market, offering a wide variety of engines able to result in 335 horsepower. Until not so long ago, the original Firebird closely resembled Chevy Camaro.

A quarter-mile covered in 13 seconds time leaves 1970 Plymouth Barracuda at the 7th place with its astonishing at that time 425 horses.

The 6th place goes to 1970 Boss 302 Mustang offering its owners 60 mph speed reached in less than 7 seconds. This muscle car was definitely one of the best options for desperate adrenaline seekers.

1965 Pontiac GTO occupies the 5th position with its 389-cubic-inch engine and 335 horses and good wheel control. It is followed by 454-cubic-inch 1970 Chevelle 454 SS, which has preserved an honorary title of the highest-output production car up till now.

The final three is represented by 1969 Z28 Chevy Camaro, 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 and, finally, 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500, which, in fact, leave us here contemplating speechless, for there’s nothing you can add to these beasts description. Their history tells its own tale.
