Vaughn Gittin Jr: Drifting In The K.S.A. - Muscle Cars Blog

From 2010 Formula Drift Champion, Vaughn Gittin Jr.: “Earlier this year, I had the pleasure to visit Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a guest of Ford Middle East to perform in a demo as part of the Action Ha race weekend at of Al Reem Circuit. I didn’t know exactly what to expect heading to the Middle East, but I’m always down for new experiences and adventures. Once I arrived I was completely blown away by the love of motorsports, and even more specifically, the love for drifting by the locals. Everyone I met, from Princes, to other professional drivers, to swarms of fans, treated me with amazing hospitality and kindness. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget and I look forward to coming back to the K.S.A!

RTR-X Mustang by Vaughn Gittin Jr. for 2010 SEMA - Muscle Cars BlogActually Vaughn Gittin Jr. is well-known drift pilot. He loves to drive Ford Mustangs in a sideways, but he also started his own car brand – RTR. The debut was at last year’s SEMA with RTR-C Mustang.

Now, with Team Need for Speed, the drifter/car builder is going to build another Pony at 2010 SEMA – The RTR-X version. Some things we know: it’s going to be based on a 69′ Stang, using a Dynacorn replacement body shell, the 5.0-liter V8 from the 2011 Mustang GT and a one-off sub-frame from Art Morrison. Don’t forget to check the progress of the build until its debut at SEMA in November at SpeedHunters.

2011 Monster Energy Ford Mustang - Muscle Cars BlogLike the production 2011 Mustang, Vaughn’s new ride features several new upgrades. The chassis and suspension have been updated using the knowledge gained from the 2009 season, and the looks have been tweaked to match Gitton’s ponycar for the street, the RTR-C Mustang. Falken Tire remains as a sponsor and has provided their brand new RT-615K tires to be sacrificed on track, and a version of Ford Racing’s 4.6-liter supercharged V8 is still under the hood.
