1970 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 with Marti report

1970 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 with Marti report - Muscle Cars BlogFew cars carry as direct a link between motorsports and the showroom as the Boss 302. Parnelli Jones drove a Mustang, powered by a canted-valve, hand built, 5 liter engine and four speed manual, and you could go to your local dealer and have one, too! Hey—the production cars even ran his stripes! A big carb, a big intake, big heads opened a lot of eyes to small block power, and the power waiting to be unleashed with a simple set of headers and an aggressive cam are the stuff of legend. This example here is quite the street fighter, packing the Boss engine, 3.91 gears and little else. It’s as close as you could get to a Mustang race car with license plates in 1970! Restomod ’67 Shelby GT500 Mustang

Restomod ’67 Shelby GT500 Mustang - Muscle Cars BlogEngine swaps have been around as long as there have been different manufacturers making a variety of models. Whether it’s putting a flathead V8 in your Model A Ford, or injecting some modern power into your aging musclecar, an engine swap can define an entire vehicle. Such is the case with this spectacular 1967 Mustang that’s dressed up like a Shelby GT500 and packs a 2004 Mustang Cobra power plant under the hood. That means 32 valves, a supercharger, and drivability that they couldn’t imagine back in the good old, bad old days.

The rest of the car was updated as well, but the basic goodness of the Mustang shape was retained, along with the very best Shelby upgrades, creating a Pro-Touring fastback that has to be seen to be believed. Built by the guys at Pro Touring Super Cars (a division of Speed, Inc.), this was a cost-no-object car from the beginning. Speed, Inc. specializes in putting late model power into vintage muscle, and bringing the latest technology to bear on the cars of the past. What better way to do that than build a Shelby GT500 tribute with one of Ford’s most potent late-model powertrains? Read more!

Power Struggle – The Ultimate Hot Pursuit incl. Stig

05-Nov-2010

The chase is on, this November. In the second part of November, the world of racing games as we know it will change. At least this is the promise made by EA and Criterion Games when it comes to the release of the latest Need for Speed title, perhaps the most anticipated in years, Hot Pursuit.

Until the game arrives in stores though, EA thought to taunt us some more with the extraordinary cars which will be featured in the game. Enter a new promo video, this time for real: real cars, real road, real people.

And not just your everyday people. EA and Criterion called upon British grime music band Roll Deep and the man formerly known as the Stig, Ben Collins, for a little chase-me-down the street gimmick.

The video is just a teaser to a complete chase between a pair of Lambos Porsche 911 GT3s. How it all worked out we’ll see on November 8th.

Hot Pursuit, a revival of the successful original title, will introduce a whole new feature for online play, called Need for Speed Autolog. Through Autolog, players can compare racing stats and automatically get personalized gameplay recommendations.

It features pretty much all the cars which represent something in today’s world, including Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, Ford Shelby GT500, Audi TT RS Coupe, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Porsche Cayman S and Dodge Challenger SRT8. The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and Ford Shelby GT500 will only be available in the Limited Edition version of the game.

The game will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii.
