There is a saying in the Dakar racing circles that goes like this; “To Finish is to Win!” Does it sound cliché? Maybe. But, if you’ve ever competed in the Dakar Rally, or any race for that matter, you know there is no checkered flag for those who don’t finish. It doesn’t matter how fast you went on day #1, or how many cars you passed in day #2, or how quickly your support crew repaired your car on day #3. If you wreck the car or can’t complete on day #10, any hopes of a podium finish, or any finish, will elude the best intentions. Dakar is truly a game of survival of not the fastest, but the fittest. One where the attrition rate is high, and the stakes are higher. If you consider the 430 adrenalin-charged souls who began this marathon of abuse two weeks ago, checkered flags and un-corked bottles of Champaign swirling around in their heads, less than half will be starting tomorrow’s stage. Those who do, who have survived and are still standing, will be heading for the checkered flag in Buenos Aires tomorrow night.

A racing legend and a race-inspired car will team up to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) at the 40th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Ariz.

A spectacular, one-of-a-kind factory-painted Grabber Blue 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca will be sold to the highest bidder with none other than racing great Parnelli Jones providing commentary from the auction stage with Ford’s Mustang team. Jones won the 1970 Trans-Am season opener in a Boss 302 and the Laguna Seca is named after the track where he won that race. The event will be televised live on SPEED channel. Read more!

The concept was created in 1963 on the underpinnings of the Polara and was meant to bring in the spotlights Chrysler’s newest engine at that particular time, the now iconic 426-cubic inch (7.0-liter) Hemi V8.

This amazing piece of history will be up for grabs at this year’s Automobiles of Arizona event held at Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, on January 20th. Though the RM Auctions hasn’t revealed its estimate yet, we believe it will trade for more than the $1.1 million (€830,000) it fetched last time it was sold, in 2007.

The car is currently in the possession of the late John M. O’Quinn and has been owned by several collectors over its 47-year existence. It was painstakingly restored by multiple award-winner Fran Roxas and it has one of the original 15 race Hemi engines, rated at 600+ horsepower, under the bonnet. Read more!

The car met Dallas Performance, a company that is some sort of an angel which makes sure that mighty four-wheeled heroes are able to play their driver-thrilling role. According to luxury4play, the aftermarket developer converted the car to twin-turbo religion and offered it the full list of benefits that come with this.

To be more specific, this Chevy was gifted with a 434cid LSX block with performance induction LS3 heads, a custom made twin turbo kit, single plane intake, TR-6060 Transmission with C6 ZO6 Differential, RC 120 injectors, as well as with a new exhaust system with B&B PRT Mufflers. Watch the video!

The new 2012 Camaro might get a few extra horses under the bonnet if what Camaro5 reports is true. The new horsepower will find its way into the V6 powerplant for the sports coupe version. The new engine, badged “LFX”, looks like a significant improvement over the already powerful LLT V6 found in LS and LT Camaros.

The mill is described as “LFX 3.6L SIDI, DOHC, VVT, E85 MAX, Alum GM”, so it should still displace only 3.6-liters, just like the current V6 Camaro. It’s not yet clear if this is the standard model or some kind of high-performance race car for the road, but we like the figures either way. It even comes packed with advanced features, like Spark-Ignition Direct-Injection, Dual Overhead Cams, Variable Valve Timing, and E85 capability. Read more!

General Motors hasn’t talked too much about the future of the Chevrolet Corvette range, letting car enthusiasts around the world feast their eyes with the current incarnations of the model. But a Transportation Design student, on his name James Robbins, created what could be a future Corvette.

In other words, he envisioned the future design of the Corvette, keeping the same language and proportions of the current models. The result is just impressive and the sporty and sleek Corvette would really become a breathtaking car if GM’s designers decide to go this way. Read more!
