An iconic Mustang is back in victory lane delivering a race win to the “Blue Oval.” Multimatic Motorsports’ championship driver duo of Scott Maxwell and Joe Foster claimed the first competition victory for the Boss 302R in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in GRAND-AM at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.

“This is a pretty special victory,” said Scott Maxwell, who was involved in the testing and development of the Boss 302R. “We have come close a few times before so maybe we were overdue, but it hasn’t really sunk in yet. Certainly there is a special legacy in racing the Boss 302R and the amazing job that Parnelli Jones did winning the championship in the Boss. Dave Thomas Sets NHRA AA/SA ET, MPH Records in Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak

Dave Thomas, of Westchester, Pa., powered his 2011 Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak to a record-setting 9.43-second elapsed time (ET) at 143.90 mph during a test session on Thursday, April 7 at the NHRA Division 1 National Open event at Atco (N.J.) Raceway (the test session allowed for record attempts). Thomas captured both the ET and mph records in the AA/SA class just two weeks after taking ownership of his Mopar Drag Pak, and with only a few passes under his belt in the new V-10-powered beast. “As we all search for the best Mustangs experts agree that an unrestored car because it is so rare and cant be duplicated is the most sought after. This car is a one owner, red Boss 9 with the most sought after S engine which only came in the first 279 Boss 9s.I bought this car from the original owner in Akron Ohio he stored the car in his garage the whole time and only drove it 4,405 miles the first few years he owned it. The original owner is still alive and well and can be called to verify anything on this car that you want. He wrote up the history of the car and I put it in one of the pictures which I think it can be read. When he first bought the car he raced it three times in the stock class and the three class winner stickers are still in the quarter windows right now. I have the original window sticker that has been wrinkled a little but is otherwise in very good condition. I have two mint build sheets. I put a picture in here that shows both build sheets taped together when I found them in the car. There is also a picture of the floor pan which is like brand new. The only odd thing under the carpet was a gum wrapper, screws, bolts, cut out from the dash and many other items the Ford employees left under the carpet. I kept all of these items and they almost filled up a baggie. I also have the temp warranty card and the regular warranty card with the owners name and address. I also have a lot of other paper work with the car such as registration cards from 69-71, sheets from Kar Kraft when the engine came in and many more.

The 2012 Centennial Edition package will be available on all Corvette models – including Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1 – starting this summer.

The special package was inspired by Chevrolet’s racing-bred foundation, which continues with Corvette’s international racing excellence and production sports car prominence.
