2011 Ford F150 EcoBoost – Log Skidder – Real Torque

04-Nov-2010

Hi, guys, this was awesome – Ford took the F-150 EcoBoost into the forest, where it shot a series of Web-based documentaries about what the truck can do. Simply put, the F-150 was forced to pull some logs through the narrow roads of the forest, just to show that the 420 lb.-ft of torque are for real. The truck pulled logs weighing from 4,000 to 9,000 pounds, heavy enough to kick into action the truck’s great torque/rpm combination (420 lb.-ft. at 2,500 rpm). Did it manage to impress?

FORD TO PUT THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS BEHIND WHEEL OF 2011 F-150 ECOBOOST MONTHS BEFORE ON-SALE DATE - Muscle Cars BlogDEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 17, 2010 – Ford will put some 20,000 people behind the wheel of the new 2011 Ford F-150 months before the vehicle arrives in dealer showrooms so they can see for themselves how its all-new powertrain lineup – including the much-anticipated 3.5-liter EcoBoost – performs and how F-150 stacks up against the competition.

The Ford EcoBoost engine will be available in 90 percent of the 2011 Ford F-150 lineup.

The Built Ford Tough Roundup, a comprehensive drive program for consumers, fleet customers, and dealership sales staff, will travel to seven cities throughout the country between now and November. Additionally, Ford will offer drives of its full car and truck lineup to fair-goers at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas next month.

“We know that once people get into the 2011 F-150 and experience the four new engines that they’re really going to be sold on them. Some of our dealers had a chance to drive it and one constant feedback was ‘Wow!’” said Mark Grueber, F-150 Marketing manager. “Customers tell us they’re really impressed with the specs of the new engines – including best-in-class horsepower, torque, trailer tow and fuel economy – but they want to get behind the wheel and compare it with the competition.”

No Ford Mustang EcoBoost

No Ford Mustang EcoBoost - Muscle Cars BlogAccording to a recent report by MotorAuthority, Ford is not planning a Turbo Mustang for now. We understand the tendency of this muscle car automaker – after all it has recently unveiled two other sophisticated powerplants for the 2011 model. The first is the 305-hp 3.7-liter V6 and the second is the new 412-hp 5.0-liter V8. Actually, the turbocharged engine makes an almost equal amount of torque, and because it is still a V6, there’s a notable weight savings over a V8 engine.

If we take a look at the past, we’ll see that in the 1980s, Ford produced a turbocharged model called the SVO. It used a 4-cylinder – with the lighter engine helping the car beat the old 5.0 in some tests.

Heads up, guys! The automaker has confirmed that the EcoBoost V6 will arrive in the F-150 later this year as a 2011 model.
