Building cool cars for charity is nothing new, but this 2011 Mustang has a better pedigree than most of those auction flyers that make a big splash and then vanish forever. Built with input from skateboarder Tony Hawk and assembled by the guys at Galpin Auto Sports (you know, the same guys who build the hardware on the hit TV show “Pimp My Ride”), this is no paint and sticker upgrade, but a comprehensive redesign of the 2011 Mustang that addresses everything from horsepower to interior accommodations.
A special Military Tribute Camaro sold to an internet bidder for $175,000 Sunday during the final hour of the Barrett-Jackson auction. The money will help support the Achilles Freedom Team, which helps wounded veterans of all services overcome their injuries through athletics, including marathons.
2008 Ford GT Bullitt Edition
The concept was created in 1963 on the underpinnings of the Polara and was meant to bring in the spotlights Chrysler’s newest engine at that particular time, the now iconic 426-cubic inch (7.0-liter) Hemi V8.
As it happened with the iconic Pontiac Trans Am from the ’80s series K.I.T.T., the Mustang GT from the second series also became the dream of many of the Knight Rider series’ fans. Now, one of the two cars built for the 2008 TV series driven by Justin Bruening as “Michael Knight,” which takes place 25 years after the original show, is set to go under the hammer, the Inside Line reports.
The car on the picture is the “personal” 1971 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda of the Beach Boy singer Al Jardine. This muscle car was highly touted in the run-up to the auction block next week at the Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale, Ariz, but pulled from sale on Friday.
