Back to the future as Chevy produces standalone SS

Feb

It was more than fitting that the new 2014 Chevrolet SS got its first major outing at Daytona recently. The production model of the company’s latest muscle car may only have been on the infield this time but the first real-wheel drive performance sedan to be released by the company since 1996 is as exciting for some people as the high-octane racing on the oval, where the Nascar Sprint Cup version was making its debut.

Indeed, it was some debut for the Chevy SS – after the new production model paced the racecars at the start, Jimmie Johnson followed up by bringing his Nascar Super Sport over the line for victory in the main event.

1979 Pontiac Trans Am – 10th Anniversary – Daytona Pace Car

1979 Pontiac Trans Am - 10th Anniversary - Daytona Pace Car - Muscle Cars BlogThis particular 1979 Trans Am Anniversary Edition represents a rare matching-numbers treasured classic with it’s significant historical value as (believed to be) being one of only 60 Anniversary Trans Am’s involved in the “Dealer drive away program” through Nascar that year and as you can see, Musclevehicles.com strives to provide you with unique and interesting muscle cars.

What a difference a decade can make. In 1969, the Trans Am was a sharp-looking option package that sold in relatively small numbers. In 1979, the Trans Am was a car that everyone wanted. Immortalized in movies, the Trans Am had emerged as a major contributor to Pontiac’s purse. Not everyone was going to drive off in a Trans Am from the Pontiac lot, as there were plenty of other Firebird models that could feed the sporty car habit. After all, it wasn’t every car that could sick around for 10 years racking up increasing sales. Read more for images!

2011 Dodge Penske Racing Challenger SRT-8 – 1 of 1!

Feb

2011 Dodge Penske Racing Challenger SRT-8 - 1 of 1! - Muscle Cars BlogThis rare Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 is a result from very productive co-work. For years Pennzoil and Penske Racing have collaborated on track-proven technology that aids performance and improves efficiency. So, Pennzoil thought it would be a cool idea to create a custom, Penske-themed street car. And Penske, dominating NASCAR with Dodge’s top models, figured the brand’s all-American Challenger would be a perfect starting point. Hands were shook, papers were signed and, before we knew it, Dodge had shipped Penske a copy of its latest and greatest Challenger: the mighty SRT8 392. Fans of each brand were then encouraged to spread the word and, even if they didn’t want to buy any of the companies’ products, enter the contest. And finally, the car you see here, Pennzoil Challenger number 001 of 001, was given to one lucky contestant. If you’re a Mopar collector who wants the ultimate late model Challenger, make no mistake, this car is the ultimate trump card!

In September of 2011 Pennzoil announced their “Join the Pursuit” sweepstakes, offering this Penske Racing-inspired Challenger SRT8 392 as the grand prize. As the only 1 of 1 Challenger Chrysler has ever built, this car is entirely unique — evidenced by its Pennzoil Limited Edition dash plaque that simply reads “001/001”. And with only 1,455 miles on its soft green odometer, it’s a black on black boulevard bruiser that’s factory fresh in virtually every way! You know, we’ve sold or driven just about every variation of the new Challenger, from Mr. Norm’s, to Saleens and even Hennessey cars. And from a total driving experience, this is probably the best one we’ve ever found. The car’s drivetrain, brakes and suspension have been fine tuned to the max, and our own CEO even said the car probably wouldn’t have made it to the sales floor if he had more garage space. 2011 Chevrolet Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro – One-of-a-kind

Feb
20
2011 Chevrolet Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro - One-of-a-kind - Muscle Cars BlogOriginally there were to be 100 Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro’s built. That was the idea from the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog, page 44, in 2010. To get one you had to call an (800) number on October 19th 2010 at 12:00 E.S.T. and cross your fingers. All 100, were “snapped up”, in under 3 minutes.
They were to be delivered in April 2011 but that didn’t happen. Those of on the list were informed in March 2011 that they would be delayed till mid-Summer, 2011. Once they were built and shipped, only 75 of these cars were built in total (30 Manual and 45 Automatic transmissions). There was no actual explanation as to why the additional 25 were not built.
This one was built on July 5th, 2011 and was the 12th one produced. They were shipped in enclosed trucks. Each of these cars has their very own Birth Certificate as well as a window sticker with a M.S.R.P. of $75,000. Aside from the COPO Camaro, these are the rarest of
the 5th Generation Camaro’s made. This guy over here spoke to the actual company that painted the cars for G.M. in Michigan. He got ahold of them to see if he could get some of the paint they used so he could paint the rear difusser the same as the body. They were very helpful. The person he spoke to said G.M. asked him to paint a dozen cars then they wanted to see them in person. When they did see the cars, they said the paint was too perfect. Click on read more for more!

1963 Chevrolet Corvette 2600 HP- World's Fastest Street Legal Corvette - Muscle Cars BlogCheck out this incredible 1963 Chevrolet Corvette – it’s the World’s Fastest street legal corvette out there! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime project, that took more than 5 years and realized by Rod Saboury. But let’s get straight to the point – enjoy this mean machine, read the full article and check out the 100+ images in the gallery!

Design and Construction

The 5-year project was started in 2001. In the first 2 years, drawings, schematics, adherence to drag racing rules and local motor vehicle requirements were foremost in the preliminary design. Finding the correct car was also at the top of the “To Do” list. When the car was eventually found, it was delivered to Rod as a shell on a wooden pallet with no frame, the original VIN tags, clear title and a price tag of $800…It was Perfect!

The body was sent to long time friend and fiberglass guru Frank Morawski where the body was stretched 12 inches in three places to maintain proportions. It was widened 3 inches in the rear, the quarter panels were raised 2 inches, a rear wing was recessed into the body and a functioning trunk was created that looked like it came from the GM factory. Overall, it was no easy feat requiring hundreds of man-hours. Great Job Frank. Read more!
