One of America’s best-loved States, Michigan is the home of Detroit, the US’s leviathan motor industry and, of course, the Ford Mustang which is celebrating its 50th birthday in style at this summer’s epic three-day Silverstone Classic festival.

Pure Michigan will be supporting all the special Mustang celebrations staged at the massive event – these include dedicated displays, on-track parades, muscle car races, air displays, Motown music plus a host of other eye-catching and enthralling activities.

“It’s the perfect partnership for us,” enthused Dave Lorenz, Pure Michigan’s International Marketing Manager. “The iconic Ford Mustang is one of Michigan’s greatest creations and thus provides us the best possible platform to promote the State’s multitude of other attractions. As well as supporting all the amazing Mustang celebrations, we will be providing some special prizes giving showgoers the chance to win a fabulous trip to the US not just to see the delights of Michigan but also to visit the world famous Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.”

Plans for the Mustang’s birthday party are already very well advanced with a record number of competition varieties entered into the two thundering Mustang Celebration Races Proudly Presented by Pure Michigan. Both superb showdowns – one on Saturday, one on Sunday – boast capacity 58-car grids including a record 30 race-prepared Mustangs. The packed line up includes some illustrious Shelby GT350s as well as former F1 driver and Le Mans winner Jackie Oliver.

In-field displays will feature hundreds of models showcasing all 50 years of ‘Pony Car’ evolution together with some legendary Mustangs from movies such as Gone in 60 Seconds, American Gangster and Bullitt. Indeed the Bullitt homage edit recently filmed at Silverstone has already become a huge YouTube hit with more than 111,000 views to date. Furthermore, with one eye on the future, Ford will also be displaying its all-new 2015 Mustang at the Classic.

Pure Michigan will also be supporting a large number of other outstanding birthday party festivities including Mustang P51 air displays and live music from Motown tribute band Singed, Sealed and Delivered.
